Agression was one of the earliest known bands to be considered “Skate Punk. Founding members vocalist Mark Hickey, guitarist Henry Knowels, and bassist “Big” Bob Clark all skated for the Sims skateboarding team in the late 70’s, forming Agression in 1979. The bands only album Don’t Be Mistaken (1982) featured the song “Intense Energy”, which is one of the earliest known punk songs about skateboarding and skate culture. The cover of that album also featured Arthur Lake skating a pool and was shot by legendary photographer Glen E. Friedman. Based out of Oxnard, California, most specifically Silver Strand Beach, their style of music which they dubbed “Speed Rock” became the template for a subgenre of Hardcore now known globally as “Nardcore”.
